Premiere of 'Mark's Story' on 14th March, 2024

We were thrilled to premiere ‘Mark’s Story’ on the 14th March, 2024. Almost 100 people came to The Palace Cinema Como to connect, catch up and to watch this amazing documentary.

In 2019, after receiving a life-changing stem cell transplant from an unrelated donor and fuelled by gratitude, Mark reached out to #AustralianMarrowMatch, expressing his eagerness to give back and get involved. Since then, Mark has become an advocate for stem cell donation, and a living example of its impact on lives.

Mark’s story is not just a film; it’s an incredible tool to educate and inspire. By sharing his experience, we hope to encourage more people to join the Registry and make a difference It was very moving to hear from Mark about his journey and the challenges he faced. His story shows that behind every individual with blood cancer who needs a stem cell transplant to survive, there is a person, a family and a life being lived, thanks in part to the altruism of a total stranger.

Following the film, Freddy Young from @goodone.creative hosted a Q&A with Mark, Chris Tanti - CEO of the Leukaemia Foundation and Kate Levy - Head of Marketing & Engagement at the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry, which encompasses Strength to give. It was wonderful to hear from all of them and they answered some of the big questions about stem cell donation, the state of the Registry, what motivates them in their work and why it is so important that we grow the Registry in both number and diversity.

A big thank you to Freddy Young, Charlie Howcroft and Tom Sutherland from Good One Creative for their creativity and support over the past few years and for making this project come to life. Thanks to Alec Uittenbosch for directing and editing the film and the crew for their hard work.
