Talking to the team at Aston Commercial
AMM was thrilled to be invited to Aston Commercial to join their morning meeting and to share with their team, Ned's story and information about blood stem cell donation and the need for people to join the Aussie Stem Cell Donor Registry to help save lives.
Angus, who works at Aston commercial and who is Ned’s brother, spoke about the challenges Ned had faced when he found out, after being diagnosed with a rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, that he was going to need a stem cell transplant to survive. He also talked about the amazing person Ned was, his fascination with the science of illness and his generous spirit which resulted in him donating a vial of his blood to the team at the Alfred Hospital for research.
We then shared with the group Mark’s Story which really brings home how a life can be impacted by the kindness and generosity of a stem cell donor. We also talked about the process of stem cell donation and the importance of doing your own research, so that if you do decide to join the Stem Cell Donor Registry and subsequently get a call to say you have a match, you are ready and willing to donate.
We really enjoyed spending time with the Aston team and we are so pleased that have really taken on board how they as individuals, a group and a business can help to educate and create awareness around stem cell donation. They were instrumental in helping us set up and run our awareness event and live swabbing day at Surrey Park Football Club
